Homeless Resources

Helpful resources available in Dane County for individuals and families facing or in the midst of homelessness.

Housing Programs and Services

The HAA Division supports access to housing through contracts with multiple vendors for housing programs serving households who are considered homeless by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) definition. Priority is given to participants who are referred from Coordinated Entry established by the local Continuum of Care (CoC).

Doubled – Up Homeless Policy and Program Development

Doubling up is defined as living with another family or individual for an extended amount of time. Provider agencies and referral partners work together to disseminate housing status and eligibility.  Service is prioritized to households with the highest need.

Housing Development

Dane County is committed to creating a variety of housing options throughout our community.  Dane County uses local funds as a means to leverage additional resources from project partners to create a variety of housing units.

Eviction Diversion and Defense

The Tenant Resource Center’s Eviction Diversion and Defense Partnership (EDDP) supports long-term housing stability for Dane County tenants by providing housing support, housing counseling, court navigation, mediation services, and rental assistance to tenants with an eviction filing. TRC also refers eligible tenants whose housing stability is at risk to partner attorneys who provide legal representation at no cost to tenants.
